Groovy motivation

Hi All,

It’s that time of year when Bailey and I waken from our Winter slumber and review the carnage wrought on our lives (dishes everywhere, crusty mugs, piles of laundry, withered plants, unread mail +++) by letting everything go for a lengthy period of slumming it under a duvet and reading.

This year I decided to kick start my motivation to write by attending life drawing classes in person and online. I wanted to scribble, scratch and mess up paper with colours and tension from pens, pencils and oil pastels. I discovered the wonders of using colouring pencils for life drawing rather than plain carbon pencils. I also developed renewed enthusiasm for drawing cats by attending a drawing session at a cat cafe. Then after two weeks, I felt this compulsion to write. And so, it has begun. The nights of writing and stories popping into my head at 3am in the morning.

So, I discovered that creating mental space to write can involve doing something else creative to kick-start the mind. It has been great and I am continuing with art everyday (sketches, doodles) before undertaking writing.

Wishing you well in your creative ventures,

Olivia & Bailey
