It took me more than 12 months to write and illustrate the first book about Bailey (my cat). I enjoyed the process and trying to do something new – children’s books is a genre I hadn’t considered previously. I am not a trained illustrator or designer, but wanted to try the project and found I really enjoyed it.
I released the book on Amazon this week. I am super-excited to put it out there and have decided to do a series of books about Bailey.
I love the idea of having something tangible about her since I spend so much time watching Bailey IRL. I have so many pictures of her, but wanted to craft something arty myself!
Have a look if you get a chance. The story is about Bailey finding a magic label maker and having fun with it, learning some new words, and playing with her friends. It could be read by a child (3+ years) or read to a child. It could also be enjoyed by an adult (fingers-crossed).
Here is Bailey chomping on a pen. She spent a long day in the garden today (which is going to be the theme of the next in the Bailey the Cat series). I am looking forward to drawing lots of flowers, insects, and trees!
Wishing you well on your writing and creative journeys!
Love Olivia & Bailey
